roel poriau (1975) is currently active as a drummer, vibraphonist, sound engineer (live and studio) and producer.
He started as classical percussionist in orchestras. The second half of the nineties, he was the drummer of the alternative rockband ‘flowers for breakfast’, releasing 2 albums on mercury with international tours as a result. The next 10 years, roel was focusing on the band ’think of one’: more than 10 releases (on crammed and knitting factory), collaborations with morrocan and brasilian artists, a bbc3 award (2003), and tours in japan, brasil, canada, russia and europe. Simultaneously, roel was playing drums with flath earth society and started producing records for other artists. (traktor, amir asmar)
When think of one broke up in 2009, roel started drumming with ‘antwerp gipsy-ska orkestra’, ‘harvey quinnt’ and ‘orchestre international du vetex’, meanwhile doing more production work for brassafrik, lady angelina, dottir slonza, lady angelina, lokomotiv, sens unique, special choir, maffiasko taxi, W viktor ao.also morrocan and tunesian releases; amir asmar, ftah, cheb said, amira kasri, rachid rbata…..
